The Auditory Verbal Lounge in Nottingham is an independent service located at the Ear Foundation that provides Auditory Verbal Therapy for deaf children and babies. Auditory Verbal Practice is a family centred approach that supports children in learning to talk through listening.
Through individualised therapy the programme is tailored to meet the unique needs of each child and their family; guiding and supporting them through the developmental steps of spoken language. Parents have the opportunity to practise specific techniques such as acoustic highlighting and strategies for language development. The therapist guides and coaches the parents so they feel confident to integrate these techniques and strategies into their child's daily life.
Lyndsey Allen LSLS Cert. AVT, BSc SLT at the Auditory Verbal Lounge is one of only nine Certified Auditory Verbal Therapists practising in the UK.
